CTO COMPLEX™

The innovation proposed by HUG Research Labs involves harnessing the properties of the CBD molecule within a technologically advanced, state-of-the-art formulation that promotes easier penetration in the dermis so as to take full advantage of its benefits. CTO Complex™ was created as a comprehensive anti-wrinkle treatment that succeeds in effectively combating issues related to skin aging, thanks to the exploitation of its action muscle relaxant, which can make the body’s muscles relax, and at the improvement of cellular trophism, a term by which is meant the state of nutrition and development of a tissue or organ.

The key components in this formulation, in addition to the aforementioned CBD, areozonated oil and a selection of terpenes. Ozonated oil, due to its vasodilator properties, Promotes oxygenation and improves the penetration of the active ingredients, as well as ensuring that CBD is dissolved in water, while terpenes, which are present in cannabis, enable the so-called “entourage effect,” acting in synergy with CBD and enhancing its effects accordingly. In addition, terpenes possess relaxing and regenerating properties on damaged skin tissues.

As for the oil, different studies were conducted on different oils, at the end of which it was chosen to useNeem oil, derived from Ayurvedic medicine, which has stimulating properties for the production of new collagen.

EFFICACY TEST

The constant desire for innovation has led HUG Research Labs to establish a series of collaborations with various research institutions so that various clinical studies can be conducted to test the efficacy and benefits of CTO Complex™. Our efforts in this field, together with our collaboration with the University of Ferrara, have enabled us to carry out the following studies:

Double-blind study
This study consists of an evaluation of the anti-wrinkle activity and effectiveness of a cosmetic product using a methodology called “Half Face.” Based on the data collected, it can be concluded that:
The use of the product CTO Complex™, applied to the right side of the face, results in a appreciable reduction in the visibility of wrinkles, also correlated with an increase in the smoothness and the skin firmness compared to baseline values, while placebo treatment (left side) results in no significant changes in the skin parameters studied, throughout the 30-day treatment period.

LA TEWL (Trans Epidermal Water Loss).
Transepidermal water loss (TEWL), the physiological phenomenon of continuous diffusion and evaporation of water through the outermost layers of the skin, is a reliable indicator of the integrity of the skin’s barrier function since it is affected by even clinically unappreciable skin changes. It is shown that after 30 days of treatment with CTO Complex products there is decrease in trans-cutaneous water loss capacity (TEWL) with an average TEWL improvement of 22%.

Cytotoxicity testing
This type of test allows the cytotoxicity of a molecule or mixture of molecules to be assessed, thereby evaluating the toxicity of drugs by label-free microscopy. This test was performed on the ozonated oil used by HUG Research Labs at the University of Ferrara. The test came back negative.

Observational clinical trials with Visia Canfield
HUG Research Labs carried out observational clinical trials using Visia Canfield, a high-tech equipment that allows images of the face to be taken and stored in three different positions: right hemiface, left hemiface, and frontal. The test result indicates a reduction in percentage score from 8.016 to 5.192 of wrinkles in the analyzed area.
